My family and I moved to Rehovot in 1980. We were living right above the El- Kabets family. Very quickly me and Shira became good friends and Omer as her younger brother was always there. He was always trying to see or hear what we were doing. He was such a great kid. When I moved from Rehovot I was only 10 years old but our relationship with the El-Kabets family is strong until today. When I heard that Omer died I couldn't beleive it. It was along time since I last spoke with Haya but I had to call and speak to her. I was't even sure that she will remember me. Finally I decided to go to Israel (I was living in Istanbul) for the Yom Hazikaron. It was the first Yom Hazikaron without Omer. I went to Rehovot, I didn't tell Haya I was coming. I went there with Orna, an old neighbour. After the ceremony we went to Haya's house where finally I could hug her and tell her how sorry I was....
